The new terminal of Muscat International Airport commercially opened on 20th March 2018, and it was on 11th November 2018 that Muscat International Airport officially celebrated its Grand Opening ceremony in an evening of Omani pride and celebration
The USD 1.8 billion state-of-the-art passenger terminal is considered the largest and most significant project in the Sultanate’s history. The project was executed to the highest standards of quality and service. The new Muscat International Airport project elevated Oman into the top slot of airport design and function in the region. The airport features Omani-themed architecture, the latest technologies, and an exceptional passenger experience.
Terminal
Muscat International Airport Terminal facilities are split into five levels. The first level comprises the Arrivals Hall, the second level has services and amenities, the third and fourth levels have the Departures Hall and the fifth level houses the transit hotel Aerotel.
The departures hall has 96 check-in counters, 20 self-service kiosks, plus 45 boarding gates. Oman Air has a dedicated First and Business class check-in counter ‘A1’ where passengers are treated on a priority basis.
There are 31 emigration counters at the departures and 56 immigration counters at arrivals. Muscat International Airport’s arrivals have 8 luggage carousels for international flights, two carousels for domestic flights, and has an overall baggage processing capacity of 5,520 bags per hour. There are 12 transfer counters at the arrivals section to ensure faster, smoother processing and short wait times for transit passengers. Car parking capacity of 8,000 supports both arrival and departure passengers.

Muscat International Airport Cargo Terminal
The operations of the New Cargo Terminal at Muscat International Airport started in March 2018. The new terminal’s annual operational capacity is 350,000 tonnes.

Bus Services : Public buses, operated by Mwasalat, are available at the bus station located in the ground floor outside the airport building. These buses are specially designed for airport passengers, with special provisions for luggage and those with special needs.
